Audition to Join Columbus Rings!

Columbus Rings is seeking experienced handbell ringers to join us for the 2025-26 season. If you are looking for a new challenge and a musical community, please consider auditioning.

Walk-ins are welcome, but registration is strongly recommended so we can share information with you ahead of time as needed.

What to expect during the auditions

• Participants will be asked to choose a position on the bell table to sight-read as part of a full group (5 octaves); each participant will be asked to switch positions at least once
• Skills checks: groups of 4-6 ringers will be asked to demonstrate various handbell skills together (e.g. ringing preparation and stroke, martellato, thumb damp, malleting, weaving, etc.)

• Brief interview with the Artistic Director

What to expect as a member of Columbus Rings

• Weekly rehearsals on Sunday evenings from 6pm-8:30pm
• 6-8 performances per year in venues all around Central Ohio and occasionally beyond
• Challenging repertoire that requires a commitment to learning on one’s own in addition to weekly rehearsals
• A thriving musical and social community that rewards commitment, teamwork, good social skills, and a “can-do!” attitude
